OnePlus has confirmed that it will cease operations in the West, according to CNET, ending its run in the U.S. and Europe. The OnePlus 15 will be the final OnePlus phone released in those markets.

Existing devices will continue to receive software support for as long as OnePlus originally promised at launch. Users in those regions will also be moved from Oxygen OS to parent company Oppo’s Color OS.

The company is now set to merge operations with Oppo, its Chinese parent, which sells smartphones and other consumer electronics globally. Mashable notes that German outlet WinFuture, via PCMag, had reported that an announcement from Oppo could come as soon as this week.

The shift had been signaled for months. AndroidHeadlines first reported the possibility back in January, and in April, OnePlus told PCMag it was “evaluating its regional roadmap and product strategy” in North America. That review now appears to be finished.

For years, OnePlus stood out by offering phones with near-flagship specs at lower prices than many rivals. Mashable points to devices that often came in at under $1,000, positioning the brand as one of the stronger Android alternatives to Samsung and Google in western markets.

No reason for the withdrawal was given in the report. But with OnePlus leaving and folding into Oppo, the western smartphone market is about to lose one of its more price-aggressive premium brands.
