Samsung unveiled its latest Galaxy Z foldables at its July 2026 Unpacked event, with the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra all set to launch on August 7th. The lineup looks like an iterative update overall, with modest design tweaks and new AI features, though the Z Fold 8 stands out as the more notable change.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 starts at $1,899.99 and is effectively a new, shorter model rather than a straightforward replacement for last year’s Z Fold 7. It has a 7.6-inch main display and a 5.5-inch outer screen, making it smaller than the $2,099.99 Z Fold 8 Ultra, which keeps an 8.0-inch main display and 6.5-inch cover screen. The Fold 8 is close to the Ultra on specs, but with a 50-megapixel main camera instead of a 200-megapixel sensor and a slightly smaller 4,800mAh battery versus 5,000mAh.

Storage and memory are the same across the two Fold models: 256GB and 512GB versions come with 12GB RAM, while the 1TB configuration gets 16GB RAM.

The Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra looks much more like a direct follow-up to the Z Fold 7, just under a new name. Alongside its 200-megapixel main camera, it includes a 10-megapixel telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom.

At the lower end, the Galaxy Z Flip 8 starts at $1,199.99 and appears to have the fewest hardware changes. Its battery capacity and camera specs are unchanged, but Samsung has swapped in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 in place of the Exynos 2500 used in the Flip 7.

Key specs across the three phones include:

  • OS: Android 17 on all three
  • Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy on all three
  • Water and dust resistance: IP48 on all three
  • Charging: Flip 8 at 25W wired / 15W wireless; Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra at 45W wired / 20W wireless

Other notable differences:

  • Flip 8: 6.9-inch main display, 4.1-inch cover display, 4,300mAh battery, 180 grams
  • Fold 8: 201 grams, 8K video at 30FPS, UWB, 5G sub6 and mmW
  • Fold 8 Ultra: 215 grams, 200MP / 50MP / 10MP rear camera setup, Bluetooth 6.0

Colors vary by model, with some online-exclusive options. The Flip 8 comes in Pink, Graphite, Cream, and Mint (online); the Fold 8 in Lavender, Graphite, Cream, and Pistachio (online); and the Fold 8 Ultra in Violet Shadow, Graphite, Cream, and Green Shadow (online).
