Anthropic is offering 1,000 early-career professionals a paid path into nonprofit AI work through its Claude Corps fellowship, with $85,000 in salary plus benefits for a 12-month placement. The first application deadline is July 17.

Announced last month, the program will place fellows at partner nonprofits across the US to use Claude in support of their missions. Anthropic said it has committed $150 million to the effort.

“Our goals are twofold: that host organizations are equipped with valuable tools and systems, and fellows build AI skills that will serve them in their careers.” “The companies building this technology have a responsibility to make sure the benefits are fully realized and widely shared, and to invest directly in the workers absorbing the change.”

Anthropic

The first cohort starts in October with 100 fellows, followed by two more cohorts opening next year. Applicants must be 18 or older, have no more than two years of full-time work experience, and be authorized to work in the US. Anthropic said it can support fellows who need to relocate.

Training will be provided by Anthropic and CodePath. Fellows also get a CodePath mentor, access to Anthropic office hours for technical questions, a Claude token budget, and guidance from managers at their host organizations.

Partner groups include national nonprofits such as the YMCA and Goodwill Industries, along with local organizations including SoundOff in Texas and the Reef Environmental Education Foundation in Key Largo, Florida. Other placements focus on veteran support, advising low-income students, bipartisan economic initiatives, and food insecurity.

The program stands out because it directly funds jobs tied to AI adoption, not just research into AI’s economic effects. ZDNET notes that Anthropic has previously focused on research and policy through efforts such as its Economic Futures program and Economic Index. By contrast, Claude Corps creates paid positions immediately, though fellows are not guaranteed full-time roles at host nonprofits after the year ends.

Anthropic said applications for later cohorts will stay open on a rolling basis for programs beginning in January 2027 and August 2027.
