Anthropic is offering K-12 teachers in the United States a free year of premium Claude access through a new Claude for Teachers initiative.
Announced on Tuesday, the program gives verified educators access to Anthropic’s paid features at no cost. According to the company, teachers in the U.S. who are approved will get Claude for Teachers with the Learning Commons connector and a set of teaching skills built around learning science.
Anthropic said those skills were developed with Learning Commons and focused on the tasks teachers said mattered most. The company added that the tools were evaluated for rigor, pedagogical alignment, and classroom usability, then refined with feedback from teachers, including educators at Prospect Schools in Brooklyn.

The package also includes access to Claude Cowork and Claude Code, extending the offer beyond basic chatbot use to Anthropic’s newer products. The company recently published a fluency guide for educators interested in using AI in the classroom as well.
For now, Anthropic says Claude for Teachers is aimed at individual educators, not institutions. A separate offering for schools and districts is in the works.
Eligible teachers can apply by June 30, 2027. The move mirrors OpenAI’s ChatGPT for Teachers, which launched last November and is still available to qualifying educators.
