Apple pushes macOS Tahoe 26.6 release candidate
Apple has issued the macOS Tahoe 26.6 release candidate to developers, one week after beta 5. If no major bugs appear, this should be the public build.

Apple has shipped the release candidate for macOS Tahoe 26.6 to developers, one week after the fifth beta. If no major bugs are found, this is expected to be the final build that reaches the public.
Developers can install the update through System Settings > General > Software Update. Beta Updates must be enabled, and Apple requires a free developer account.
According to MacRumors, Apple is unlikely to add major new features in this update. With macOS Golden Gate set to launch in the next couple of months, the company is likely concentrating on its newer software rather than expanding Tahoe 26.6.
The report also points to Apple’s recent beta cadence around the release:
- The third developer beta of macOS Tahoe 26.6 arrived on Monday, June 29, 2026
- The third public beta for iOS 26.6, iPadOS 26.6, macOS Tahoe 26.6, watchOS 26.6, and tvOS 26.6 followed on Tuesday, June 30, 2026
- macOS Tahoe 26.5.2 and iOS 26.5.2 were also reported to be in testing on Monday, June 22, 2026
That leaves macOS Tahoe 26.6 looking like a stability-focused update as Apple moves closer to Golden Gate.
