Audeze has refreshed its Maxwell gaming headset line with the new Maxwell 2 ANC, adding adaptive noise canceling to a category where ANC is still relatively uncommon. The company is pitching the headset at gamers, esports players, and audio professionals, while also making a handful of changes to the design and controls.
Unlike many gaming headsets that focus on microphones and RGB lighting, Audeze is again leaning on sound quality and isolation. That makes sense: effective noise canceling can be useful not just for gaming at home, but also for working in a noisy office.
Audeze says the headset includes:
- Adaptive hybrid ANC with feedforward and feedback circuits
- A low-latency transparency mode
- Voice control and an improved transparency mode
- Simultaneous wired and Bluetooth connectivity
- Audeze planar magnetic drivers
- Removable ear cushions and limited-edition swappable side plates
According to the company, the noise canceling works best against constant low-frequency background noise—the kind of hum that often cuts through during gaming sessions or music listening. Audeze also lists support for PC, macOS, Android, iOS, and Nintendo Switch.
