iPhone Ultra brings two new screen sizes this fall
Apple’s rumored iPhone Ultra could launch this fall with a roughly 5.3-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner screen.

Apple rarely changes iPhone screen sizes in a meaningful way, but that looks set to shift this fall. According to 9to5Mac, the rumored iPhone Ultra will introduce two new displays in formats the iPhone lineup has not used before.
The report says the device will feature:
- a roughly 5.3-inch outer display
- a roughly 7.6-inch inner display
That would mark a sharp break from Apple’s recent pattern. In recent years, iPhones have mostly clustered around two main sizes: 6.1–6.3 inches and 6.7–6.9 inches. On the rumored iPhone Ultra, the outer display would be notably smaller than today’s standard models, while the inner panel would be larger than an iPhone 17 Pro Max.

The inner screen is said to be similar in size to the iPad mini, while the overall device is expected to be shorter than other modern iPhones and also wider. If accurate, that would give Apple a distinctly different form factor from any previous iPhone.
A key question is how iOS and third-party apps will handle those new shapes. 9to5Mac notes that Apple already appears to be pushing broader landscape mode support in the iOS 27 beta, which could help apps better fit a larger, tablet-like inner display.
Apple is expected to reveal the new hardware in September.
