$13,130 Messi Foldable Appears Before Samsung Reveal

A $13,130 version of the unreleased Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra has surfaced online before Samsung has even confirmed the phone exists. The listing comes from luxury customization brand Caviar, which is selling a Lionel Messi-themed edition with 24-karat gold plating ahead of Samsung’s July 22 Galaxy Unpacked event in London.

Samsung has only said it will share news about its latest foldables at that event, where expectations are centered on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. But the company has not officially announced any of those devices.

Caviar unveiled the product in a July 15 press release for its limited-edition “Legends” collection, which includes a Cristiano Ronaldo-themed iPhone alongside the Messi foldable. In its promotional copy, the company says:

“The portrait of the Argentine captain is integrated into the back panel of the Samsung Fold 8 folding flagship, whose complex engineering mirrors the multi-faceted genius of Messi’s play.”

Under the warranty section of its website, Caviar says it “guarantees the authenticity and quality of all products purchased through Caviar.”

The company also says the collection is tied to the “upcoming FIFA World Cup final” and the release of the new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra, adding that only 19 pieces will be available worldwide.

That leaves a basic unanswered question: is this based on a real phone design, or just a concept timed to ride the attention around Galaxy Unpacked? Samsung has so far shared little beyond mention of a new Flex Titanium display, and has not released official images, pricing, or specifications for the rumored Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra.

Mashable said it contacted both Samsung and Caviar about the listing and would update its report if either company responds.
