OnePlus has confirmed it is leaving the US and Europe, ending new product launches in both markets after months of industry speculation. Parent company Oppo says existing customers will still receive support, with future software updates shifting devices from OxygenOS to ColorOS.
“Software updates and after-sale support will be guaranteed” in both regions, James Paterson, Oppo’s senior PR manager in Europe, told The Verge in a call. Oppo did not spell out how it will handle warranty and support commitments in the US, where it will no longer have any direct presence. In Europe, Oppo will continue selling phones and other products.
Paterson said the transition from OxygenOS to ColorOS will happen “in the coming months.” Elvis Zhou, CEO of Oppo Europe, said users will be able to roll back to OxygenOS if they prefer, though that would presumably mean giving up future updates.
The company was notably less clear about OnePlus' future elsewhere. Zhou repeatedly declined to say which markets the brand still operates in or plans to remain in. That follows a Bloomberg report this week claiming that by next year, OnePlus will leave India and all remaining markets except China. In a statement to The Verge, Oppo PR representative Nicole Okpokiri confirmed only that “OnePlus' product roadmap in China remains unchanged.”

Okpokiri also said Oppo’s other sub-brand, Realme, is being restructured and “will focus on overseas markets and no longer launch new products in China.”
On staffing, Zhou said the changes were handled “in full accordance with the relevant laws and regulations,” adding that some employees were offered roles within Oppo. He did not say how many people were affected.
For now, OnePlus is still preparing the OnePlus 16, but it is no longer clear whether the phone will launch outside China. Oppo’s next major release is expected to be the Find X10 series, while rumors also point to a wider foldable model matching the form factor Samsung and Apple are expected to adopt this year.
