Xiaomi says Mi Home water purifiers topped 8 million

Xiaomi says it has sold more than 8 million devices from its Mi Home Water Purifier line over 11 years, while accumulating 258 patents related to water purification.
That is a notable milestone in a category where buyers typically care less about branding and more about hard specs such as filtration performance and cartridge lifespan. Yu Xinlan, deputy general manager of Xiaomi Smart Ecosystem, said the first model was intended to make water purification systems affordable for most households.
According to the company, the focus later shifted to water flow speed, filtration, and ease of use. Those are now the main points Xiaomi emphasizes across the lineup.
Xiaomi also noted that in 2020, the Mijia brand became the leader in online water purifier sales in China. The company operates in a competitive market, facing both local appliance makers and long-established brands selling premium purification systems and instant water heaters.
Its current pitch centers on faster filling and finer filtration. Xiaomi says newer Mijia models can fill a glass in about three seconds, while their reverse osmosis membranes filter down to 0.0001 μm.

The company also said its self-developed intelligent control system for water purification and heating in Mijia instant water heaters reached the international market this year. That points to a broader smart home push: Xiaomi is not just selling a filter, but trying to build a connected portfolio where water is one of the core categories.
