Apple may end iPhone Upgrade Program next week
Bloomberg reports Apple will stop new enrollments in its current iPhone financing plans as it prepares to launch Apple Upgrade on July 28.

Apple is reportedly preparing to shut down new sign-ups for its current iPhone financing programs as it launches a new leasing product called Apple Upgrade.
According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, Apple will “discontinue new enrollments for its current iPhone payment programs” as part of the new rollout. That would affect both the existing iPhone Upgrade Program and Apple’s standard financing option, the report says.
Apple markets the iPhone Upgrade Program as the “easiest way to upgrade to a new iPhone.” The plan, backed by Citizens One, lets customers pay monthly at 0% APR and upgrade to a new iPhone after 12 months. Apple also offers Apple iPhone Payments, another Citizens One financing plan that spreads payments over 24 months but does not include an upgrade option.
A major difference between the old and new programs is AppleCare. The current iPhone Upgrade Program includes AppleCare coverage, while Apple Upgrade reportedly will not.
It’s still unclear what happens to people already enrolled in the iPhone Upgrade Program. Gurman’s report focuses on ending new enrollments, not existing memberships.
