Apple is now rolling out a sixth release candidate for both macOS Sonoma 14.8.8 and macOS Sequoia 15.7.8 — an unusually long RC cycle even by Apple standards.
According to 9to5Mac, the new builds are now available to both developers and public beta testers. Apple has not shared any specific notes beyond its standard line that the updates include “important security fixes and is recommended for all users.”
The timing suggests security is the main story here. Apple recently shipped iOS, iPadOS, and macOS 26.5.2 with fixes that had originally been planned for version 26.6, moving them up because of risks tied to new AI-powered tools.
