Casio has unveiled a limited-edition G-Shock for the 20th anniversary of Mother 3, one of Nintendo’s most revered Game Boy Advance RPGs. Built on the classic DW-5600, the watch swaps the usual square G-Shock look for a fan-focused design with sunflowers, pixel-art Mr. Saturn, and the series' signature yellow-and-red color scheme.

This is more than a simple recolor. The yellow strap and case reference the sunflower fields from chapter six of Mother 3, while the red accents echo the Mother logo. Casio’s choice of the DW-5600 is unsurprising: it has been one of the brand’s most recognizable G-Shock lines since the 1980s, and it is also the case Casio most often uses for pop-culture collaborations.

Fans will spot several extra touches. The strap features printed Mr. Saturn sprites, the caseback is engraved with “Potential!”, and the LED backlight reveals an image of a sunflower field. There is also a removable gold-colored protective frame over the crystal, a feature the source says has not appeared on previous Mother collaboration watches.

Mother 3 first launched in Japan in 2006 and never received an official Western release, a big reason the game has developed near-mythic status over the past two decades. That makes this watch feel less like a routine license deal and more like a targeted release for fans who will recognize every reference instantly.

Price and Japan-only availability

Casio has priced the watch at 19,800 yen, or about $122 at the exchange rate cited by the source. Sales will be limited to Japan through the Hobonichi Mother’s Shop website, and buyers will have to enter a lottery rather than purchase it directly.

Applications open on July 17, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. Japan time and close on July 30 at 11:00 a.m.

For anyone in Tokyo, a display sample is already on show at TOBICHI Tokyo through July 29. Casio has not disclosed the production run, and if the batch is small, this release is likely to follow other sought-after G-Shock collaborations straight onto the resale market at a premium.
