Casio has started US sales of three new watches in its MTP-B146 series, built around a small detail that is unusual in mass-market models: at the 12 o’clock position, the day of the week is spelled out in full rather than shortened to three letters. In a market where classic watches increasingly borrow cues from gadgets, these models lean hard into a deliberately simple 1980s-style look.
The lineup includes two steel-tone versions, MTP-B146D-1AV and MTP-B146D-2AV, plus the gold-tone MTP-B146G-3AV. All three use the same stainless steel case and the same movement, with only the finish and dial color changing.
The positioning is straightforward: vintage styling without the price tag of watches such as the Seiko Presage or Tissot PRX. The standard models cost $110, while the gold-tone version is $130. The source notes that many retro-style analog watches from major brands now start at $200 or more.

- Case: stainless steel, 40.8 x 35 mm
- Thickness: 8 mm
- Weight: 85 g
- Glass: mineral
- Water resistance: 50 m
- Battery: SR920SW
- Battery life: about 3 years
- Wrist size: 150 to 205 mm
The dial layout is restrained: a large day window at the top, a standard date at 3 o’clock, simple markers, and conventional hour, minute, and second hands. There are no sensors, no screen, no Bluetooth, and no solar charging. The bracelet is also steel and uses a one-touch, triple-fold clasp.
With 50-meter water resistance, these are everyday watches rather than swimming or diving models, but they should comfortably handle rain, handwashing, and light pool use. The launch also fits a broader push by Casio in the US, where it has recently expanded its range with more feature-heavy G-Steel models with Bluetooth and solar charging, as well as bright Color Camo designs inspired by Y2K aesthetics. Against that backdrop, the MTP-B146 is a clear bet that demand still exists for straightforward analog watches, in a global watch and jewelry market that Statista estimates is on track to generate more than $480 billion in revenue in 2026.
