Deezer says 50% of new uploads are AI music

Deezer says more than half of all tracks uploaded daily to its service in June 2026 were AI-generated. That amounts to over 90,000 new tracks a day, a sharp rise from 44% in April and 30% in December.

The company says it can measure that growth because it has built AI-detection tools that automatically identify and tag AI-made music. Deezer already excludes those tracks from recommendations and playlists, and it is now tightening its rules further.

The service said that, going forward, it will systematically take down AI tracks used for streaming fraud, as well as tracks that haven’t been streamed for at least 6 months. According to Deezer, streaming fraud typically involves bulk-uploading large volumes of low-quality AI music in an attempt to collect royalty payouts from even small numbers of plays spread across thousands of songs.

That matters because most streaming payouts are based on share of total listening. Uploading huge batches of tracks can let bad actors capture a bigger share of that pool, even if each individual song attracts only limited attention.

Deezer has not explained exactly how it will distinguish AI-generated music tied to fraud from AI music uploaded for other reasons. It is also unclear whether the new policy will materially slow the flood of uploads. Still, among major streaming platforms, Deezer is taking a notably harder line by combining detection, recommendation limits, and takedowns.
