Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 leak points to huge battery jump
Leaked images suggest Samsung’s next watches won’t change much visually, but the Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 may get an 800-mAh battery.

Samsung’s next wearable lineup is coming into focus just days before its next Unpacked event, and the early picture suggests a familiar design with a potentially meaningful upgrade: battery life.
According to leaks first reported by Android Headlines, the upcoming Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2 look visually close to their predecessors. The Watch 9 appears to keep its circular display inside Samsung’s squircle-style case, while the Ultra 2 sticks with the rugged design introduced on the original Galaxy Watch Ultra. Side-by-side images also suggest a clear size gap between the two models.
The bigger story may be inside the Ultra 2. A report from SamMobile, later highlighted by 9to5Google, says Samsung’s next rugged smartwatch could use a battery with a rated capacity of 784 mAh, likely marketed as 800 mAh. That would be about a 30% increase over the current Ultra’s 590-mAh battery.
Battery and processor rumors
If that figure is accurate, the Ultra 2 would have the largest battery in the Wear OS market. The current Galaxy Watch Ultra already delivers roughly two-and-a-half days of real-world use, so a jump this large — combined with the rumored Snapdragon Wear Elite chip — could move Samsung closer to three-day battery life, or more with power-saving features turned on.

The same SamMobile report says the 40mm Galaxy Watch 9 could also get a battery boost, rising to 382 mAh from 325 mAh.
CNET notes that this matters as wearables push deeper into health tracking, especially features that depend on overnight use for recovery and longer-term insights. A longer-lasting Ultra 2 could give Samsung a stronger answer to screenless health trackers that prioritize endurance over smartwatch features.
Health features and what’s missing
Samsung is also expected to keep expanding health tracking. Last year’s notable addition was Antioxidant Index, and this year’s rumors point to broader nutrition and metabolic insights, with longer-term interest in noninvasive glucose monitoring still hovering in the background.
The company has already previewed new Samsung Health features including Vitals, Heart Health Score, Daily Cardio Load and Fitness Index. CNET says these aren’t confirmed specifically for the Watch 9 or Ultra 2, but they fit Samsung’s wider push toward more personalized coaching and analysis on the watch itself, with less reliance on a connected phone.
Other possibilities include satellite connectivity for the Ultra 2, following similar moves from the Apple Watch Ultra and Pixel Watch 4.
One thing notably absent from the current rumor cycle is a Galaxy Ring 2. The original Galaxy Ring launched in summer 2024, but so far there are no leaks pointing to a successor in Samsung’s 2026 wearable lineup. For now, the company’s watch plans appear centered on just two models: the Galaxy Watch 9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra 2.
