Galaxy Z Flip 8 keeps 4,300 mAh battery despite new Exynos 2600 chip

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 will keep the same battery capacity as its predecessor, at around 4,300 mAh. This breaks the recent trend where Samsung’s foldable Flip models received battery upgrades in the Z Flip 6 and Z Flip 7. However, thanks to efficiency improvements from the new Exynos 2600 chipset, the Z Flip 8 could still deliver longer battery life despite the unchanged capacity.

Unlike conventional smartphones, the Galaxy Z Flip series uses two individual batteries working together. For the Z Flip 8, Samsung reportedly adjusted the capacity of each cell, resulting in a rated 4,174 mAh total-marketed as 4,300 mAh. This subtle recalibration suggests Samsung is focusing on design balance and thermal management rather than increasing battery capacity.

The expected battery life improvement mainly comes from the Galaxy Z Flip 8 using the Exynos 2600 processor, the same chipset introduced with the Galaxy S26. This chip offers significantly better power efficiency than previous processors, including the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 found in some S26 models. This efficiency boost may allow the Z Flip 8 to run longer on the same battery size, a key benefit for foldable phone users who often face battery endurance challenges.

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Flip 8 during its usual summer launch window in July, following the pattern of prior Flip models. While the Galaxy Z Fold 8's pricing may remain stable to compete with Apple’s rumored foldable iPhone, the Z Flip 8 could see a different pricing strategy, though details are not yet clear.
