Apple Wallet car keys may reach GWM Tank vehicles
New backend code suggests Apple Wallet car key support could be coming to GWM’s Tank lineup, days after a similar report tied the feature to Volkswagen.

Apple appears to be preparing Car Keys in Apple Wallet for GWM’s Tank vehicles, according to new backend code spotted by MacRumors.
The move would extend Apple’s digital car key feature to a major Chinese automaker’s off-road brand. Car Keys lets drivers use an iPhone or Apple Watch to lock, unlock, and start a compatible car, but no GWM vehicle currently supports it.
Several GWM models already work with Apple CarPlay, including the Tank 300, Tank 400, Tank 500, and Tank 700. The company also sells vehicles under the Haval, Ora, Wey, and Poer brands.
The report follows another recent backend-code discovery that suggested Volkswagen vehicles would also gain Car Keys support. Apple has been steadily broadening availability after recent launches from Toyota and Rivian.

In 2025, Apple said 13 additional vehicle brands would adopt Car Keys: Acura, Cadillac, Chery, Chevrolet, GMC, Hongqi, Lucid, Porsche, Rivian, Smart, Tata Motors, Voyah, and GWM-owned Wey.
According to Apple’s website, more than 800 car models currently support CarPlay, and 52 of those also support Car Keys. If the backend code proves accurate, Tank would be the latest name added to that much shorter list.
