Google is bringing connected apps to Search AI Mode, expanding a feature already available in the Gemini app. Starting to roll out this week in the U.S., the update lets users securely link selected services and interact with them directly from Search.

According to Google, the idea is to make Search more useful for everyday tasks by letting AI Mode hand off actions to other apps. One example: if you’re planning a barbecue and using AI Mode to build a grocery list, you can connect Instacart and send the ingredients straight to your Instacart cart, then finish checkout in the app or on the web.

Google also says Personal Intelligence combined with connected apps can produce more tailored responses. The initial examples include asking Canva for flyer template options during a design project, or using AI Mode to build a playlist and save it directly to YouTube Music.

The company says users can try the feature now in AI Mode in Search, with more app partners planned later. The announcement was authored by Chips Mistry, Senior Product Manager, Search, and Biharck Araújo, Engineering Lead, Search.
