SpaceXAI says it has made the Grok Build source code available to everyone and has also removed usage limits for all Grok users.
Grok Build is described as an AI agent and command-line tool (CLI) built to help with coding, interface creation, and app development. It runs directly in the terminal, automatically reads a repository’s configuration, and can handle more complex jobs, from building games to integrating plugins.
In a statement, SpaceXAI said the move is meant to let anyone contribute to a more reliable and fault-tolerant toolset.
“We open-sourced Grok Build and reset usage restrictions for all users. Open-sourcing Grok Build allows anyone to contribute to building a robust and fault-tolerant toolset. Check out our code, including the Git repository for the Grok Build CLI.”
The update follows an earlier claim from Elon Musk that Grok 4.5 ranked first in the Long-Horizon Terminal-Bench standings for July 2026.
