iOS 27 beta 4 adds TV downloads and more Siri controls

Apple has released the fourth developer beta of iOS 27 ahead of its September launch, and while this update is lighter than earlier betas, it still adds a handful of notable changes across the TV app, Photos, Siri, Camera, Wi-Fi, and AirPods.

The Apple TV app now includes an Automatic Downloads toggle in Settings. If enabled, iOS will automatically download the next two episodes of shows you start from Continue Watching, then delete them after you finish.

In Photos, Apple has added a “Zoom Photos to Fill” toggle in Settings. It is turned on by default and slightly enlarges images that almost match the screen’s aspect ratio.

Apple also removed a wallpaper effect introduced in beta 3. That feature showed a cutout of the wallpaper subject in Notification Center when swiping from the Home Screen, but it is no longer present.

On the Siri side, Apple has redesigned the voice selection interface. Devices that do not support customizable voices now use the newer layout with selectable voices and accents. On devices that do support custom Siri voices, Apple has added more voice options marked as coming soon.

For now, customizable Siri voices are limited to the iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and iPhone Air. Apple has also added a new setting to control the length of Siri app previews, with options for up to five lines or none at all. In Accessibility, there is a new “Always Show Request” toggle that displays an on-screen transcription of what you say to Siri.

When opening the Siri Search or Ask interface by swiping down, users will now see an explanatory splash screen.

The Camera settings gain another upgrade for video users. With Apple ProRes enabled, there is now a ProRes Log Video Encoding option that lets users choose between Log and Log 2. According to the source, Log 2 retains more information in the file, giving editors more flexibility for color work and post-capture adjustments.

Elsewhere, Apple has added per-network controls for Connectivity Assist, allowing users to enable or disable it for individual Wi‑Fi networks regardless of the master toggle.

Apple also refreshed the appearance of AirPods controls in Control Center, including more options for Adaptive mode.

One of the more revealing finds is in the code: the beta includes strings referring to an iPhone with two batteries, including the line “The batteries in this iPhone are performing as expected.” MacRumors says that could point to the rumored foldable iPhone Ultra, which is expected to use a dual-battery design.
