iQOO 16T leak points to 2K Samsung display

iQOO is reportedly positioning the 16T as a new flagship focused on speed and cooling. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, the company is already testing a prototype with a 2K Samsung display and is considering Qualcomm’s next top-end platform as its main chip.

More specifically, the leak points to the SM8950 silicon, which the insider says is expected to launch as the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6. iQOO also appears to be keeping a fallback option in play: a version based on the Dimensity 9600. That suggests the project has not been locked to a single platform from the outset.

Another notable prototype detail is a large built-in fan. That remains uncommon in smartphones, but it makes sense in gaming-oriented and high-performance devices, where flagship chips heat up quickly under sustained load. iQOO has long pushed its phones around high clock speeds and long-lasting peak performance, and this leak suggests the company is putting extra weight on thermal stability.

Earlier reports had already indicated that the iQOO 16T would get a large display. The new leak adds a more specific detail: the panel is said to be flat with 2K resolution. That makes the device sound more like a full flagship than a lighter variant.

There is still no word on the cameras, battery, or charging. But the shift from the previous generation appears meaningful. Rather than relying only on newer silicon, iQOO seems to be targeting the point where fast phones often start to struggle: maintaining stable performance under pressure.

The iQOO 15T, released in May 2026, already had strong specs: a 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO display with 2K+ resolution and 144Hz, a Dimensity 9500 Monster chip, up to 16GB of RAM, and an 8,000mAh battery with 100W charging. Against that backdrop, the 16T looks less like a minor refresh and more like an attempt to raise the bar on both raw power and thermal consistency.

There is still no clear launch date. If iQOO sticks to its usual schedule, the phone could arrive in spring 2027, though the source does not rule out an earlier debut.
