Apple may test a 7-inch iPhone for 2027
A leaker says Apple is testing a 6.96-inch iPhone display that could be marketed as 7 inches, potentially for a 2027 flagship.

Apple is reportedly testing what could become its largest-ever iPhone display. According to leaker Digital Chat Station, citing supply chain sources, the company is trialing a panel with a physical size of 6.96 inches and a standard size of 7 inches — meaning Apple could market it as a 7-inch screen.
If that ships, it would edge past the 6.9-inch iPhone 17 Pro Max, though only by a small margin. The leaker did not say what device the display is meant for, but speculated it could be intended for next year’s iPhone Pro Max, whatever Apple ends up calling it.
That naming is part of the intrigue. 2027 marks the 20th anniversary of the iPhone, and reports have long suggested Apple is preparing a more ambitious redesign. One idea is a special standalone anniversary model, similar to the iPhone X. More recent reporting points instead to the new design arriving as the iPhone 19 Pro and Pro Max. Another possibility is that Apple skips ahead from iPhone 18 to iPhone 20 as a nod to the anniversary.
