MacWhisper 14 has arrived with a redesigned transcript editor, faster performance, and a set of workflow improvements for one of the more popular transcription apps on the Mac.
Built by indie developer Jordi Bruin, MacWhisper transcribes audio, video, meetings, and system audio directly on Macs using locally run models including OpenAI’s Whisper and Nvidia’s Parakeet. Since its 2023 launch, the app has steadily added features and speed improvements, and version 14 continues that push.
According to Bruin, the headline change is a new Editor View that lets users edit transcripts directly in the main transcript screen. The update also makes it easier to add paragraphs, reassign speakers, favorite key sections, and work with better overall performance.

“We just released version 14.0 and the biggest change is the new Editor View. You can now edit your transcript directly in the main transcript screen, add paragraphs more easily, reassign speakers faster, favorite useful parts of a transcript, and work with much better performance overall.”
Bruin said early feedback quickly led to MacWhisper 14.1, which ships with fixes and refinements for the new editor. Version 14.1 also adds Gladia as a new cloud transcription provider, allowing users to transcribe with their own Gladia API key.
Other changes in MacWhisper 14 include:
- a redesigned AI services screen
- updated AI models for popular providers
- better playback with multiple open transcripts
- improved transcript windows, including better Cmd+A behavior and instant editor interaction
- Deepgram updates, including EU/US region selection, filler word controls, and expanded Nova 3 language support
- cloud transcription uploads that no longer load entire files into memory
- fixes for menu bar position, audio/video scrub syncing, idle CPU usage, and meeting recording edge cases
MacWhisper Pro users can update to version 14 at no extra cost. Bruin is also offering a 14% discount for users upgrading to Pro.
