Apple says Madden NFL 27 Arcade Edition will launch on Apple Arcade on August 6, giving the subscription service a new football release built specifically for Arcade with a season-based structure and current NFL rosters.
Apple describes it as a full Madden game with no ads and no in-app purchases. It includes Franchise and Quick Play modes, with player ratings based on real NFL performances. In Franchise mode, a weekly story engine puts players in the role of GM, asking them to steer a team through changing storylines, keep fans engaged, and chase a championship.
The game supports controllers across iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Also arriving on August 6 is Retro Bowl College+, which lets players run one of 250 college programs in a spinoff of the original pixel-art Retro Bowl. Then on September 3, NFL Retro Bowl '27 gets a new Gauntlet Mode, where players begin with limited resources and try to win 15 games in a row to top the leaderboard. Players can choose safer matchups or tougher ones that reward real NFL players and perks, and progress carries over between runs even after a loss before a final rivalry game.
A few existing sports titles on Arcade are also getting updates:
- NBA 2K26 Arcade Edition adds Tyrese Maxey as a new Paragon player and expands Association mode with the 2016-2024 era.
- PGA TOUR Pro Golf adds Bear’s Best Atlanta.
- Starting July 16, NFL Retro Bowl '26 gets Historic Super Bowl challenges based on notable championship games.
Apple also said several Arcade titles can now be tried on the App Store without a subscription, including PowerWash Simulator, Mini Motorways, Cooking Mama: Cuisine!, and Play-Doh World.
In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month. It is also included in all Apple One plans and is available through the App Store and the Apple Games app across iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro.
