Oppo says it is carrying out a major restructuring of Realme and OnePlus, shifting the two brands to different regional priorities and consolidating software around ColorOS.
According to an official statement from Realme, the brand will now focus almost entirely on overseas markets. That means new product launches and updates will be aimed first at international users, while further product development in China is being suspended. OnePlus, meanwhile, will concentrate on its home market in China and continue supporting updates in India, but it is halting new product releases in Europe and North America.
Oppo says the goal is to optimize operations, cut overlapping functions, and let each brand focus on what it does best in the global market. The move should also reduce internal competition between the two companies within the BBK Electronics group, according to the report.
The most significant change may be on the software side. Going forward, Realme and OnePlus devices worldwide will be able to upgrade to ColorOS from Oppo. The company appears to be gradually merging its three main Android interfaces — ColorOS, OxygenOS, and realme UI — onto a single core platform centered on ColorOS. In the future, many devices across all three brands could ship with ColorOS out of the box.
The report adds that OnePlus had previously officially announced the end of its operations in the US and Europe and said that all active OnePlus devices will move to ColorOS starting with the update to Android 17.
