We Are Rewind has unveiled a limited-edition Pink Floyd x We Are Rewind WE-001 portable cassette player themed around The Dark Side of the Moon, and it comes with something collectors may want even more than the hardware itself: the first tape version of the album’s 50th anniversary remastered edition.
The player uses The Dark Side of the Moon artwork on the front and a Pink Floyd logo on the back. In the box, buyers also get a certificate and the remastered album on cassette.
That tape is the standout detail here. According to the source, this is the first time the 50th anniversary remaster has been released on cassette, and it may also be the only time.
Nick Mason leaned into the format’s retro appeal with a joke about ever-more-vintage releases.

“I still have my Nakamichi on the shelf and look forward to testing it with the new The Dark Side of the Moon cassette. Am I correct in assuming that the next major issue will be The Dark Side of the Moon in a large package consisting of the album divided up into 78 RPM discs?”
The WE-001 itself is a modernized cassette player with an aluminum design, Bluetooth 5.1, a wired headphone jack, and what We Are Rewind describes as a “unique headphone amplifier designed with cassette playback in mind.” It also includes a line-in, so users can record audio from another player onto tape.
It’s available now for $199 / £159. The standard WE-001 sells for $159 / £129 / AU$269. We Are Rewind also offers another special edition in partnership with Duran Duran.
