Samsung has confirmed that its next-generation Galaxy foldables will be unveiled at Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, along with a new display design it calls Flex Titanium.

The company said in a press release that Flex Titanium is built to improve durability and reduce crease visibility on foldable phones. While Samsung did not name the devices in the announcement, Mashable notes it is widely expected to reveal the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and a new Z Fold Wide at the event.

According to Samsung, the new structure uses titanium components to support the bending display. That includes a titanium-alloy film placed underneath the OLED panel, plus a titanium plate beneath the film.

Samsung said the titanium film offers “20 times greater mechanical stiffness than plastic films while measuring less than 30% the thickness of a human hair, enabling a slimmer display panel.” The company added that the titanium plate supports “the display module from beneath, eliminating air gaps between the module and adhesive for more stable support when unfolded, while retaining the flexibility needed for repeated folding.”

The pitch is straightforward: build foldables that can survive thousands of folds over multiple years while making the center crease less noticeable. Mashable notes that Samsung’s recent flagship foldables have already reduced the crease significantly, but July 22 should show how much further the company has pushed the hardware.
