Sber launches free AI courses through GigaAcademy initiative

SberUniversity and School 21 have launched a series of free AI courses through the GigaAcademy initiative, starting April 28, 2026. These programs cover video generation, working with large language models (LLMs), an introduction to AI agents, and the application of artificial intelligence in education.

• The courses are free and open to everyone-executives, professionals, and educators alike.
• Each program is organized into thematic blocks ranging from four to nine lessons.
• The flagship intensive, “Human Augmented by AI,” is held in person at SberUniversity and School 21 campuses.

These courses aim to prepare a broad audience-from corporate leaders to beginners-for the immersive “Human Augmented by AI” in-person intensive by building foundational AI knowledge.

Flagship AI course focuses on multi-agent systems

The core of the GigaAcademy initiative is training participants to build multi-agent AI systems-environments where multiple AI agents autonomously coordinate roles and tackle business challenges. The “Human Augmented by AI” program is designed for executives who want to move beyond isolated AI applications and manage entire workflows, including information retrieval, financial modeling, and strategic planning.

During the on-site intensive, participants design AI agent teams customized to their business needs, using Sber’s corporate GigaChat Business platform alongside open-source tools. This program does not require advanced programming skills.

Training educators and expanding AI education across Russia

Another important aspect of GigaAcademy is training university and college instructors to enhance their practical AI skills. Sber partners with academic institutions to help scale AI workforce preparation throughout Russia.

Rustam Aynetdinov, director of School 21, explains the mission: “Today’s leaders no longer just manage people or technology separately-they create environments where human thinking and AI capabilities complement each other. Face-to-face courses are available at SberUniversity and School 21 campuses nationwide.

While Russia’s AI education efforts may not yet rival those of global tech giants like Apple or Google, Sber’s initiative stands out by integrating AI training into both leadership and academic programs. As AI adoption grows worldwide, projects like GigaAcademy could become models for combining practical AI skills with strategic business and educational leadership.

Future updates to GigaAcademy’s curriculum are expected to incorporate emerging AI trends, especially as multi-agent systems become more prominent. It also remains to be seen whether the initiative will expand beyond Russia to meet the increasing global demand for AI literacy.
