Squarespace adds scarcity tools for limited-release product drops
Squarespace has launched new limited-release selling tools, including reserved carts, quantity limits, and low-stock badges. They’re available globally on some plans.

Squarespace has rolled out new limited-release selling tools designed to help merchants create urgency around product drops, exclusive services, and other scarce offerings.
The company says the feature set is built for sellers who want to market limited-availability products or services — from a one-off t-shirt design to a capped yoga class — without adding operational friction at checkout.
Among the new features are:
- a reserved cart that holds items for a limited time during checkout and shows a countdown timer
- purchase quantity limits to stop a single buyer from sweeping available inventory
- a streamlined checkout so customers can buy without leaving the store page
- low inventory badges and email campaigns to help merchants build hype and signal scarcity
Squarespace says the reserved cart can also return items to stock if a shopper fails to complete checkout, while the inventory controls are meant to support both fairness and exclusivity.
“We’re seeing entrepreneurs shifting away from always-on discount models and toward highly curated, exclusive releases that celebrate the value of their work.” “With our new limited release selling tools, we are putting entrepreneurs in control of when and how they sell – reducing the operational burden and giving them everything they need to build hype, handle surges in demand, and deliver a seamless checkout experience.”
According to a press release shared with TechRadar earlier this week, the limited release tools are available globally now, though access depends on the seller’s subscription plan.
