Vivo S2 could hit India in August under Rs 50,000

Vivo may be bringing its S series back to India. According to leaker Yogesh Brar, the Vivo S2 will be unveiled in early August, with sales possibly starting around August 15. The phone, carrying model number V2576, has already appeared in the Bluetooth SIG database, a step that typically signals a launch is close.

Based on current leaks, the device is not expected to target the budget tier. Instead, it appears aimed at the upper mid-range segment, where it could go head-to-head with the Oppo Reno 16 Pro and similar devices. That is a familiar battleground for Vivo, where design, cameras, and charging speeds often matter as much as raw specifications.

The last Vivo S-series phone launched in India was the Vivo S1 in 2019. It featured a 6.38-inch AMOLED display, a MediaTek Helio P65 chip, and a design Vivo clearly treated as a major selling point. Its camera setup included a 16MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide, and a 32MP front camera. The phone packed a 4,500mAh battery with 18W charging, and its base version with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage launched at Rs 17,990.

That pricing made it less of a mass-market model and more of an entry point into affordable premium phones. Since then, India’s smartphone market has shifted considerably. According to Counterpoint Research, the upper mid-range segment has become one of the most competitive, with Samsung, Xiaomi, Oppo, OnePlus, and Vivo itself all competing through lines such as the V and X series.

The latest leak says the Vivo S2 in India will be priced at under Rs 50,000. That puts it in a sensitive spot: below that level is the broader mainstream market, while above it buyers start comparing new devices with near-flagships. Vivo may still have room to maneuver if the S2 gets a stronger camera system and a newer processor.

For now, there are no confirmed details on the platform, display, memory, or software version. Those specs will likely determine whether the S2 can stand alongside the Oppo Reno 16 Pro and the rest of the field when it arrives.
