Yandex has received ISO/IEC 42001 certification for the entire Alice AI neural network family, which the company says is the first case in Russia where the standard has been awarded across a full set of models at once.

The certification covers Alice AI LLM, Alice AI ART, and Alice AI VLM — systems for working with text, generating images, and handling multimodal prompts that combine text and pictures. According to the company, the independent audit looked not only at the models themselves but also at the broader processes around them, including employee training, rollout of new versions, error monitoring, and protection of user data.

For the market, the certification goes beyond paperwork. ISO/IEC 42001 focuses on how companies manage AI risks, handle data, and govern models throughout their lifecycle. It is the first international standard for AI management systems and was approved in 2023, as expectations for AI developers began to rise sharply.

Yandex said this is not its first certification under the standard. In 2025, the company announced that it had become the first in the country to certify the YandexGPT foundation model under ISO/IEC 42001. The new announcement extends that audit process to the full Alice AI lineup.
