After several years away from India’s tablet market, Asus is coming back with a new Asus Pad set to debut on August 6. The company has already disclosed the core specs, positioning the device as a tablet built for both media and work.

The tablet features a 12.2-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and peak brightness of up to 2000 nits. Asus says the panel covers 100% DCI-P3, includes certifications for reduced flicker and blue light, and reaches a 92% screen-to-body ratio.

Inside, the device runs on MediaTek Dimensity 8300, paired with 8GB LPDDR5X RAM and Android 16. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB UFS 3.1, plus microSD expansion up to 1TB.

Other hardware includes:

  • a 9000mAh battery with 45W charging
  • charging to 50% in around 30 minutes
  • a 13MP rear camera and 5MP front camera with Face Unlock
  • quad speakers with Dolby Atmos
  • Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB-C with DisplayPort 1.4

Asus also says the tablet supports Asus Pen 2.0 and Bluetooth keyboards. A protective folio case with four viewing positions will be included in the box. The body is 6.5mm thin and weighs 523g.

In India, the Asus Pad will be sold in Pure White in 128GB and 256GB versions through Flipkart. Pricing has not been announced, and that may be the deciding factor as Asus tries to win share from Samsung, Lenovo, and Xiaomi in a market where accessories now matter as much as the screen and battery.
