Apple is reportedly planning to launch a new iPad mini with an OLED display by October this year, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
Apple brought OLED to the iPad Pro in May 2024, but the iPad mini, iPad Air, and entry-level iPad still use LCD panels. Moving the mini to OLED would likely improve image quality with richer colors, a higher contrast ratio, and true blacks.
That switch could also push the price up. OLED panels are typically more expensive than LCDs, so the next iPad mini may debut above the current model’s starting price.

Gurman did not share additional details in his latest report, but he has previously said the device would also get:
- a vibration-based speaker system
- increased water resistance
- either an A19 Pro or A20 chip
That would be an upgrade from the current model’s A17 Pro. Apple launched the existing iPad mini in October 2024, and that chip was the basis for support for Apple Intelligence.
