China plans 3,000 heavy-truck charging stations
China will build more than 3,000 charging and battery-swap stations for heavy trucks while funding a 2026 commercial truck replacement program.

China is moving to build more than 3,000 charging and battery-swap stations for heavy-duty trucks, marking another push away from diesel and gasoline freight vehicles.
The new infrastructure will focus on busy freight corridors along national expressways, other national and provincial roads, and major urban clusters including Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, and the Chengdu-Chongqing region. According to the report, the rollout will also target key logistics nodes such as freight hubs, ports, mining areas, factories, and industrial parks to help connect isolated sites into a broader energy-replenishment network.
A press conference also outlined broader support for fleet renewal. China will continue its scrappage and replacement program for old commercial trucks in 2026, allocating 22 billion yuan from ultra-long-term special treasury bonds to back the effort. The funding will be focused on replacing older vehicles with new energy-saving heavy-duty trucks.
