Fora has raised a $60 million Series D, reaching a $1 billion valuation as the travel startup pushes deeper into AI-powered tools for agents.

The round was led by Forerunner and Tactile Ventures, with participation from Insight Partners and Thrive Capital. Founded in 2021, Fora said it has now raised $138.5 million in total.

Fora operates a two-sided platform. On one side, it helps people become travel agents by providing the infrastructure for client communication and trip planning. On the other, it connects travelers with advisors for trips such as honeymoons and family vacations to destinations including Costa Rica and Thailand.

Part of the new funding will go toward expanding Via, Fora’s AI assistant. The tool is designed to handle administrative work for agents, including research and itinerary building, so they can spend more time on client relationships. The company’s pitch is that AI should improve human productivity, not replace travel advisors.

Fora said agents on its platform have booked more than $3 billion in travel since launch, and that most of its agent users are new to travel advising. The startup also plans to use the money to hire and expand into other travel categories, including cruises and flights.
