Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 users have started reporting vertical lines on the display after installing One UI 8 Watch. One case described on Reddit shows a persistent greenish-white line running along the right edge of the screen.
The cause has not been confirmed, but the issue looks familiar. It closely resembles the long-running “green line” complaints seen on some Samsung smartphones, often discussed after software updates.
That makes this a tricky problem for owners. The Galaxy Watch 4 launched in 2021, which means many units are already out of warranty. If the problem turns out to be linked to the update rather than impact damage or screen burn-in, getting a free repair could still be difficult.
So far, Samsung has not publicly responded to the complaints, and the scale of the issue remains unclear. Still, it is awkward timing for the company. Persistent green and pink display lines on Galaxy phones have been a recurring topic for years, and in some countries Samsung has run service programs offering free screen replacements even for devices outside warranty.
The issue may be especially sensitive for Samsung because the Watch 4 was its first smartwatch lineup to switch to Wear OS after leaving Tizen behind. According to Counterpoint, Samsung remains one of the world’s largest smartwatch makers.
