Bloomberg reports Apple may launch a new iPad mini in October with an OLED display, while other iPad updates are tipped for 2026 and 2027.

Apple could bring back the iPad mini as soon as October, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, with a new model reportedly carrying the codename J510. If the report is accurate, it would be the first refresh since the seventh-generation iPad mini launched in 2024.

The most notable rumored upgrade is an OLED display, a change that would improve screen quality. Gurman also said Apple is developing a new entry-level iPad under codename J581 with a faster processor, alongside new iPad Air models codenamed J807 and J837 for the 11-inch and 13-inch versions. Those devices are expected in 2027.

Bloomberg has also separately reported that new iPad Pro models could arrive next year.

The open question is pricing. Apple raised prices on new and refurbished devices last month, pushing the iPad mini from $499 to $599. The 11-inch iPad Pro increased by $200 to $1,199, while the iPad Air now costs $749, up from $599.

CNET notes that broader RAM and memory chip shortages are partly behind price increases this year across tech companies, including Apple. Apple did not respond to a request for comment.
