Researchers are using online video to teach robots how to act in the physical world, pointing to a cheaper path for robot training.

A growing strand of robotics research is using internet video as training data, aiming to teach machines how people move, handle objects, and complete tasks without collecting every example inside a lab.
That approach matters because real-world robot training is expensive and slow. Using video from the web could give researchers far more demonstrations to work with, especially for everyday activities that would otherwise require large, carefully labeled datasets.
