Samsung sets up RX unit to speed robot push
Samsung has created a new RX robotics division reporting to the CEO, with plans spanning strategy, R&D, commercialization, and humanoid robots.

Samsung has created a new RX (Robotics eXperience) division that will report directly to the company’s CEO, a move aimed at speeding up the development and commercialization of robotics products that Samsung sees as a future growth driver.
The new unit will handle mid- and long-term robotics strategy, development of core technologies, execution of business projects, and expanded research activity both in South Korea and overseas. Samsung also said the division will oversee the development of humanoid robots.
The company has appointed Executive Vice President Lee Dongkeun to lead the effort. He previously oversaw robotics strategy at Hyundai Motor Group, including the development of Boston Dynamics.

Samsung also plans to open robotics research centers in the US, China, and Japan, saying it wants to tap local technology ecosystems and recruit specialized talent.
According to Samsung, advances in physical AI are making humanoid robots increasingly practical. The company plans to deploy them first in manufacturing to improve efficiency, before expanding into home use and retail.
