Anthropic adds Fable 5, then halves usage limits
Fable 5 is coming to Claude Max and Team Premium on July 20, but Anthropic is capping usage at 50% of the standard limit.

Anthropic is bringing Fable 5 to its Claude Max and Team Premium subscriptions, but not at full capacity. The company said those plans will get only 50% of the usual usage limit for the model.
Users on Pro and Team Standard will instead receive credits, plus a one-time $100 bonus to use with Fable 5. The new terms take effect on July 20.
Anthropic said the change only affects access rules. Fable 5 itself has not gained new features, has not become cheaper, and keeps the same safety settings.

The approach is familiar across the market. Model providers are increasingly splitting access into multiple tiers to avoid running into compute costs, and the source notes that OpenAI and Google use similar logic in paid plans. Heavy workloads can burn through limits quickly, even when a subscription does not appear to charge separately for model usage.
In practice, Anthropic is moving Fable 5 from temporary expanded access into a permanent part of its higher-end plans while keeping some headroom for infrastructure. That makes the offer less like unlimited use and more like predictable access tied closely to subscription terms and real service load.
