Boeing 787 engine hits 50 million hours
GE Aerospace says its GEnx-1B for the Boeing 787 has passed 50 million flight hours with 99.98% dispatch reliability.

More than 14 years after entering service, GE Aerospace’s GEnx-1B has crossed 50 million flight hours — a pace the company says is the fastest ever for one of its commercial widebody engines.
The GEnx-1B powers the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and is now used by more than 50 operators worldwide. According to GE Aerospace, the engine fleet logs more than 600,000 flight hours every month and has reached 99.98% dispatch reliability, meaning the share of scheduled flights completed without an engine-related delay.
The broader GEnx family now includes more than 2,700 engines in service and spares. The GEnx-2B, which has flown on the Boeing 747-8 since 2011, has accumulated another 24 million flight hours. Combined, engines in the series have reached nearly 75 million operating hours and about 12 million takeoff-and-landing cycles.

The GEnx is also GE Aerospace’s fastest-selling widebody engine ever, with more than 3,000 engines delivered for the Boeing 787 Dreamliner and Boeing 747-8. GE linked the latest GEnx-1B milestone to Boeing’s plans to raise 787 Dreamliner output, saying it is increasing engine deliveries in line with the aircraft’s production plans.
