Samsung’s Galaxy S26 series is off to a blazing start, smashing preorder records in multiple markets even before retail availability. The new flagship line generated 25% more preorders in the US compared to last year’s S25 series, with the premium Galaxy S26 Ultra capturing the lion’s share – around 80% of all preorders. This impressive demand comes despite relatively modest hardware improvements and fewer preorder incentives than usual.
The Ultra variant’s dominance isn’t limited to the US; globally, it accounts for approximately 70% of Galaxy S26 sales, helping push worldwide preorder numbers to double-digit percentage increases over previous models. US carriers and retailers, including Best Buy, report preorder volumes up to twice as high as those for the Galaxy S25.
Galaxy S26 preorder sales strong despite fewer perks
Samsung usually boosts early sales with generous preorder bonuses, but ongoing supply chain issues affecting DRAM and NAND components have forced a more conservative approach this year. The Galaxy S26 preorder promotions in the US skipped the usual free storage upgrades and felt underwhelming by comparison – yet consumer enthusiasm remains high. This highlights brand loyalty and the appeal of the Ultra model’s refined features, such as its new Privacy Display technology that masks sensitive screen content from side glances.

Among the specifications, the S26 Ultra stands out with a 6.9-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display at 3120 x 1440 resolution and the latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip. However, aside from the Privacy Display, the lineup offers mostly incremental upgrades compared to the S25, especially considering the $1,300 starting price for the Ultra.
Galaxy S26 availability and delivery timeline
The Galaxy S26 series officially launched globally on March 11, with shipments already rolling out to early preorder customers last week. Those who preordered can expect deliveries any day now, while latecomers can find the new phones at retail outlets and carrier stores starting today.
Samsung’s ability to push record-breaking sales during an economically uncertain time and with fewer incentives signals a solid position for the Galaxy S line. However, it also hints at a slowing pace of innovation where brand strength might be carrying more weight than groundbreaking features.
