Galaxy Z Flip 8 leak points to minor changes

A new leak says Samsung’s Galaxy Z Flip 8 may keep the Flip 7 design, with upgrades limited to an Exynos 2600 chip and 45W charging.

Samsung’s next clamshell foldable may be a very small update. According to a new WinFuture leak, as reported by 9to5Google, the upcoming Galaxy Z Flip 8 looks set to keep nearly the same shell design, display, camera, and most other specs as its predecessor.

If that leak holds, buyers shouldn’t expect major visual changes from the Galaxy Z Flip 7. Samsung is expected to unveil its new foldables on July 22 at a Galaxy Unpacked event in London.

The biggest reported change is the processor. The Galaxy Z Flip 8 is said to use Samsung’s Exynos 2600, replacing the Exynos 2500 in the current model. That would deliver a performance bump, but it may still disappoint shoppers who had hoped Samsung would switch to a Qualcomm Snapdragon chip this year.

The leak also points to a few smaller hardware changes:

  • 45W wired charging support
  • A body that is 8 grams lighter than the previous model
  • A design that is also said to be slightly thicker

That kind of year-over-year update may be enough for first-time foldable buyers. But for people considering a move from the Flip 7, the reported spec sheet looks modest, especially amid speculation that Samsung could raise prices for the Galaxy Z8 series.

Nothing here is official yet. Samsung is expected to confirm the Flip 8 and its full specifications at Galaxy Unpacked next week, alongside several other new mobile devices.
