iOS 27 beta brings 7 Siri AI features to try now
Apple’s first public iOS 27 beta adds Siri AI as both an app and system feature set, with visual search, photo tools, writing help, and more.

Apple has released the first public beta of iOS 27, and the headline feature is a much smarter Siri — now branded Siri AI and split between a standalone app and tools embedded across the OS.
Mashable notes that availability is still limited: almost none of these features are available in China and Europe because of regulatory issues. According to the report, the problems in China appear to have been resolved, but Apple still has no timeline for a European launch.
The biggest shift is that Siri is finally a standalone app, something Apple had resisted since Siri first launched in 2011. The experience is closer to ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini: users can browse past conversations, start new ones by voice or text, and ask more complex questions, including prompts that reference emails, notes, and events.
Another notable upgrade is Visual Intelligence. By long-pressing the side button, users can ask Siri about whatever is currently on screen. In the Camera app, Siri can also analyze objects and scenes in front of the lens and provide information about them.

Image Playground also gets a lift. Mashable says it can now generate more realistic images instead of only cartoon-style results, and users can refine outputs with follow-up prompts.
Photo editing adds two new AI tools alongside Clean Up:
- Extend expands an image by generating new content around the edges
- Reframe changes the perspective after a photo is taken
Siri AI is also woven into Notes and other writing tools through Write with Siri, which lets users generate text from prompts, create related images from highlighted text, and even solve math problems.
In Calendar and Reminders, Apple is leaning harder into natural-language input. Users can type something like dinner plans for tomorrow at 7 p.m., and the apps will automatically identify people, times, dates, and locations.
Finally, Shortcuts may become far more approachable. Instead of building automations manually, users can describe what they want in plain language — for example, having the iPhone announce when it reaches 90 percent charge — and Siri AI will create the shortcut automatically.
