Apple’s iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are now about two months away, with Apple expected to unveil them in the first half of September and release them in the second half of the month. According to MacRumors, the phones should look a lot like the iPhone 17 Pro models, but Apple is still said to be planning a notable list of upgrades.
The report says Apple will also introduce a foldable “iPhone Ultra” in September. Meanwhile, the regular iPhone 18, a lower-end iPhone 18e, and a second-generation iPhone Air are reportedly being pushed to around March 2027.
Among the 12 rumored features for the Pro models:
- Smaller Dynamic Island, enabled by moving Face ID’s flood illuminator under the display
- LTPO+ displays on the same 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch screen sizes, with better battery life expected
- A variable-aperture 48-megapixel Fusion camera for more control over light intake and depth of field
- A new A20 Pro chip built on TSMC’s first-generation 2nm process, up from 3nm on the A19 Pro
- Apple’s third-generation C2 modem
- 5G via satellite for web access without Wi‑Fi or standard cellular connectivity
- A next-generation N2 wireless chip, following the N1 used for Wi‑Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread
- A new signature color called Dark Cherry, alongside Light Blue, Dark Gray, and Silver
- A simplified Camera Control button that drops touch sensitivity and haptic feedback, keeping only pressure sensitivity
- A redesigned rear Ceramic Shield area around MagSafe with a more frosted, seamless look
- A nearly 10% larger battery for the iPhone 18 Pro Max, based on alleged Chinese regulatory database filings
- A thicker design for the iPhone 18 Pro Max
MacRumors also points to separate reporting that the iPhone 18 Pro could get more expensive, with prior coverage citing a potential starting price of $1,399 as Apple faces higher memory costs.
