Russia gets a rugged explosion-proof MIG S6 Gen.2

Mobile Inform Group has launched the MIG S6 Gen.2 in Russia, a rugged smartphone built for hazardous industrial environments. The company says the device is designed for more than 5 years of intensive use in harsh conditions, with a focus on communications plus photo and video capture in explosion-risk areas.
The phone is offered in explosion-proof versions running Android 13 and RED OS M, as well as a mine-grade intrinsically safe version on the same platforms. Optional configurations with a 2D scanner are also available.
At its core is an 8-core industrial chipset clocked at 2.4 GHz, paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It uses a 6-inch impact-resistant display with 1440 x 720 resolution and 500 nits of brightness for outdoor visibility.

Connectivity includes 2G/3G/4G (LTE), Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC. Its navigation receiver works with GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, and Galileo at the same time. The rear camera is 20MP with autofocus and flash, while the front camera is 5MP.
The cold-resistant battery is rated for up to 8 hours of use on a single charge at -20 °C.
According to the source, the MIG S6 Gen.2 complies with TR TS 012/2011 certification for use in underground mine workings and above-ground mine structures with a high risk of methane or coal dust emissions, as well as in especially hazardous explosive zones. The device is also rated for 1.2-meter drop resistance and carries IP68 dust and water protection. Price is listed at about 118,000 rubles.
