China’s CXMT is starting to shake up the memory market during a supply crunch. According to DigiTimes, major PC manufacturers are rapidly signing deals with the company for DRAM supplies as capacity from SK Hynix, Samsung, and Micron has effectively run out.
At the same time, CXMT’s production capacity is already booked through the end of 2027, leaving little room for additional customers.
So far, the companies that have secured quotas are mainly large PC makers such as Dell, HP, and Apple. Smaller brands, by contrast, have received little to no allocation.
That matters because CXMT is scaling fast. Under the company’s own plans, its output is expected to reach about 350,000 wafers per month by the end of this year, only slightly behind Micron’s 375,000 wafers. If that expansion stays on track, CXMT could overtake one of the three biggest memory suppliers in 2027, with the report noting that the Chinese manufacturer is building clean rooms at roughly twice the speed.
