Redmi’s K90 Ultra is trying to do the obvious thing that gaming phones keep promising and rarely fully deliver: stay fast without turning into a pocket heater. New live photos show a handset built around Snapdragon 8 Elite, an internal cooling fan, a battery larger than 8,500 mAh, and 100 W charging, with Chinese sales set to start on 30 June.
The leaked shots also make one thing clear: this is not a subtle device. There is a wide horizontal camera bar on the back, and beneath it sits a broad air channel for the forced-cooling setup. That kind of hardware used to be the sort of gimmick manufacturers reserved for niche gaming brands; now it is turning up in more mainstream premium phones because thermal limits, not raw chip specs, are what usually cap performance.
Redmi K90 Ultra design and cooling
The most interesting part of the K90 Ultra is not the camera module, which is practically a billboard, but the cooling system built into the body. Redmi is clearly leaning into sustained performance here, and the timing makes sense: top-end chips can win benchmark screenshots all day, but long gaming sessions are where many phones quietly give up.

On the front, the phone uses a flat 6.83-inch display with very slim bezels. That keeps the package in familiar flagship territory, even if the internals are aiming a bit harder at gamers than at style purists.
Redmi K90 Ultra battery and charging
The battery is listed at more than 8,500 mAh, which is the sort of number that makes ordinary flagship batteries look politely underfed. Paired with 100 W charging, the setup suggests Redmi wants the K90 Ultra to be both marathon-ready and quick to refill, a combination that matters more as chip power and display brightness keep climbing.
- Processor: Snapdragon 8 Elite
- Display: 6.83-inch, flat panel
- Battery: more than 8,500 mAh
- Charging: 100 W
- Cooling: built-in fan with airflow channel
Redmi K90 Ultra launch timing in China
Pre-orders in China are already open, and sales begin on 30 June. Full specifications are still being held back for the official launch, which is exactly how these phones are usually staged: a few dramatic leaks first, then the full sheet once the hype machine has done its job.
The open question is whether the fan-and-battery formula will make the K90 Ultra feel meaningfully different in everyday use, or whether it will just become another impressively engineered spec sheet that sounds better on paper than in your hand.
