Xiaomi looks set to extend its battery upgrade program from the Xiaomi 13 series to the Xiaomi 14 lineup, and the first sign points to the Xiaomi 14 Pro. A fresh network access filing suggests a re-registered device with a slightly larger battery, which would fit Xiaomi’s growing habit of turning battery service into a retention tactic instead of a basic repair job.

The Xiaomi 14 Pro appears to be getting a bigger battery in China. The phone still has the same core hardware – a 6.73-inch 1440×3200 display, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip at 3.3 GHz, RAM options of 8GB, 12GB, and 18GB, and storage up to 1TB – but the battery capacity has been revised upward from 4,880 mAh to 5,000 mAh. The rated capacity stays at 4,760 mAh in both cases.

What the certification suggests

The model number 23116PN5BC has been re-registered for network access permission from telecom equipment authorities, and tipster Digital Chat Station says the Xiaomi 14 series has been filed again as a verification device with an enlarged battery. That sounds less like a random refresh and more like preparation for an official battery upgrade service, probably limited to China, where Xiaomi already runs these promotions regularly.

Xiaomi 14 Pro battery upgrade playbook

Xiaomi launched the program in April 2025 with the Xiaomi 13, 13 Pro, and 13 Ultra. It was more aggressive than a normal battery replacement because the company fitted higher-capacity batteries rather than the same-size part:

  • Xiaomi 13: 4,500 mAh to 4,850 mAh
  • Xiaomi 13 Pro: 4,820 mAh to 5,361 mAh
  • Xiaomi 13 Ultra: 5,000 mAh to 5,500 mAh
  • Price: 189 yuan, including battery and labor

The price is cheap enough to tempt people into keeping a perfectly fine phone alive a little longer.

Why the battery upgrade matters for owners

Battery wear is one of the simplest reasons people replace phones early, so a genuine capacity bump gives Xiaomi a practical way to extend device life without forcing users into a full upgrade cycle. Apple and Samsung both offer battery service options, but Xiaomi’s approach is unusually blunt: if the hardware can take it, why not make the replacement better than the original?

If the Xiaomi 14 Pro is next, the real question is whether Xiaomi keeps the same pricing and expands beyond China. My bet: the company stays cautious and uses the program as a home-market loyalty tool first, because battery service is a nice headline only until logistics, parts supply, and warranty math show up to the meeting.
